Taiwanese Network Communications Vendors to Ride on China's Expected 4G License Issuance

China is slated to release 4G licenses as early as September this year, with leading telecom operators spending around $300 billion RMB (US$4.9 billion; US$1=$6.1211 RMB) in network deployment, according to Taiwan's Commercial Times on August 9. China Mobile is to expend $80 billion RMB on erecting 180,000 base stations in 2013 while China Unicom will earmark $10 billion RMB every year for 4G network. 4G base stations operated by China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom are estimated to total 600,000. Taiwanese vendors such as Sercomm, Gemtek, Unizyx Holding, Alpha Networks, Hitron, Arcadyan, Edimax, CyberTAN, MTI, M.gear, Wistron NeWeb, and HwaCom Systems are expected to enter the CPE (Consumer Premises Equipment) supply chain, including router, dongle, small cell, and antenna.
